Summary
AudiTube is a browser extension that lets you play a Rhythm Game over YouTube videos. By default everything stays on your device. If you choose to go online (Play as Guest), we store what is needed for leaderboards and friends — a random player ID, a nickname, a Friend Key and your best scores per video — and, unless you turn it off, play statistics of finished runs that we use to tune difficulty. A restore key lets you get the same player back after reinstalling. We do not sell data, show ads, or track your browsing.
Data stored only on your device
- Settings (keys, sound, display, rhythm options), local best scores, custom beatmaps and BPM analysis cache — saved with
chrome.storagein your browser. - Your run history for Audition and Beat It Up! (scores, grades, per-run play statistics) — used for your own best scores and boards on this device.
- If you turn on Pre-analysis while watching: the beat grid and drum patterns learned from the video you watch, so your first play is better aligned.
- Your online sign-in session token and your restore key, if you go online.
This data never leaves your browser unless listed in the next section. Uninstalling the extension removes it.

Online features are optional and use Supabase as our hosting provider.

Your nickname, scores and the videos you scored on are public on leaderboards. Our hosting provider may keep standard technical logs (such as IP addresses) for security and operation.
Audio and page access
- Tab audio (
tabCapture,offscreen): the video's sound is analysed on your device to detect its tempo (BPM). Audio is never recorded, saved or uploaded. - Pre-analysis while watching (off by default): when you turn it on, the sound of the video you are watching is analysed on your device to learn its beat. Playback is never changed, ads are skipped, and nothing is uploaded on watching alone.
- youtube.com access: needed to draw the game over the video and read playback time. We do not read your YouTube account, history, comments or other pages.
- Keyboard: key presses are read only while a game is running, to play the game.
What we do not do
- No selling or sharing of personal data with third parties for advertising or any other purpose.
- No third-party analytics, ads or tracking scripts. The play statistics above are first-party, used only to tune difficulty, and can be turned off.
- No collection of your browsing history, YouTube account data or email address.
- Data is used only to provide the game features described here, in line with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Retention and deletion
- Local data: remove by uninstalling the extension or clearing its storage.
- Online data: kept while your player exists; play statistics are deleted after 180 days. Signing out stops using that player on your device. To delete your online player, nickname, scores, play statistics and friendships, contact us with your Friend Key and we will delete them within 30 days.
Children
AudiTube is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and its effective date. Significant changes will be noted in the extension's release notes.
